What we do
- Victim Service – The Victim Service provides victims of crime with free and confidential practical and emotional assistance and information about the justice system. Trained volunteers and staff deliver this assistance throughout Scotland. We have a victim service in every local authority area.
- Witness Service – The Witness Service exists to
help people through the judicial process by providing
practical and emotional support at court. You can
contact the service at any time – before, during or after
attending court.
The service, which is available to witnesses in every Sheriff and High Court, is confidential and provided by trained volunteers and staff. The service is free. - Youth Justice Service –Voyce (Victims Of Youth CrimE) is a unique service provided by Victim Support Scotland to help people, both adults and children in Dundee who have suffered a crime committed by a young person.
What services we provide
- makes an assessment of people’s needs;
- helps sort out practical things after the crime, like helping get a personal alarm, advising who to approach for safety advice, help with criminal injuries compensation;
- listens to how people feel about the crime and the impact it had;
- suggests ways to help cope with what has happened;
- helps access other support/advice organisations;
- volunteers can make a home visit;
- can provide support over the phone;
- can meet people in our offices;
- provides information on court procedures;
- provides a pre-trial familiarisation visit to the court;
- can give guidance regarding further support;
- provides a listening ear for anxieties/concerns.
